Este álbum ha resultado una verdadera sorpresa para mi. Jose Sanchez es un cantante chileno que es un gran fan del AOR clásico, hard rock y glam. Ha estado viviendo en Suecia durante mucho tiempo, cantando en un puñado de bandas de hard rock desde los ochenta. Ahora ha decidido editar su álbum en solitario, acompañado de un puñado de buenos músicos suecos que tocan en el, creando uno de los mejores álbumes con feeling ochentero que he oido en los últimos meses. Ha obtenido este fantástico resultado ya que ha trabajado duro en la composición de las canciones, las voces son impresionantes (Jose Sanchez tiene una gran voz), fantásticas guitarras y está lleno de energía y buena actitud. Os recordará a los mejores tiempos ochenteros de bandas como Victory, David Lee Roth/Van Halen, Whitesnake y muchas más. Recomiendo este álbum si os gusta el hard rock melódico con sonido clásico. No tengo dudas que puede ser uno de los mejores álbumes de hard rock de este año. Recomendado si os gustan las melodías y actitud ochentera. 8,6/10.

This album has been a real surprise for me. Jose Sanchez is a chilean singer who is a great fan of classic AOR, hard rock and glam. He has been living in Sweden for a long time, singing in some hard rock bands since the 80's. Now he decided to release his solo album together with some good Swedish musicians playing on it, creating one of the best albums with 80's feeling I have heard in the last months. He obteined this great result because this album has a hard songwriting, big and impressive vocals (Jose Sanchez has a powerful voice), great guitars and it is full of energy and good attitude. It will remind you of bands in their best 80's years like Victory, David Lee Roth/Van Halen, Whitesnake and many more. I recommend this album if you enjoy classic hard rock sound. I have no doubt this can be one of the best hard rock albums of this year. Recommended if you like 80's attitude and melodies. 8,6/10.

Shade - One Way Line

Desde que Texas abandonó el sonido que practicaban en sus primeros álbumes no habíamos tenido un claro exponente de pop/rock melódico con cantante femeníno. Shade es una banda con vocalista femenino que practica exactamente eso, matices. Diferentes matices y vertientes de rock melódico suave. Algunas canciones tienen un toque pop, otras están más cercanas al rock melódico. Además encontraréis una gran cantidad de baladas, y algunas canciones con guitarras acústicas. Este álbum es muy fácil de escuchar gracias a su buena calidad de producción y a la bonita voz de su vocalista Emma Shade. La banda tuvo algo de colaboración de miembros de los rockeros británicos Dare. Si os gusta el rock melódico con una voz bonita y no buscáis riffs y guitarras pesadas este es vuestro álbum. Rock melódico suave con algún toque de pop, bastantes baladas, todo "cocinado" con buen gusto. 7,9/10.

Since Texas walked away from the sound they practised in their firsts albums we haven't got a clear exponent of British melodic pop/rock with female singer. Shade is a band with a female vocalist which practices exactly that, shades. Different shades and slopes of melodic soft rock. Some songs have a pop touch, others are closer to melodic rock. Also you will find a big quantity of ballads, and some songs with acoustic guitars. This album is easy to listen to because of the production sound quality and the pretty voice of their vocalist Emma Shade. The band had some collaboration from members belonging to English melodic rockers Dare. If you like melodic rock with a pretty voice and you're not looking for heavy guitars this is your album. Soft melodic rock with rather pop touch, several ballads all "cooked" with good taste. 7,9/10.

Harlequin - Waking The Jester

Finalmente recibimos uno de los primeros álbumes editados bajo el sello Artist Service. El regreso, con esta edición europea, de la banda de rock clásico canadiense Harlequin. El único miembro original de la banda es el vocalista George Belanger que mantiene un buen nivel de voz y un buen estilo vocal. Harlequin editaron algunos álbumes a finales de los 70 y principios de los 80 cercanos al AOR pero con un montón de sonido clásico norteamericano de los setenta, country, blues, etc. Si estuchais las 13 canciones de este cd encontraréis una buena producción, interpretación y calidad. Para mi que intentan añadir un toque moderno de pop/rock a sus composiciones, pero siempre con ese sonido entre clásico y de los 70. Desafortunadamente algunas de las canciones no van por el buen camino, un poco modernas sus melodías (cercanas al pop) o algo cansinas de escuchar. De todos modos encontraréis que la mayoría de ellas son bastante buenas y la calidad global también. Para mi las mejores canciones son las más cercanas al feeling de los ochenta, con mejores melodías. Ha regresado una banda clásica del rock, intentando agradar a los viejos fans, e intentando conseguir nuevos. 7,6/10.

Finally we receive one of the first releases from the Artist Service label. The return, with this european edition, of the canadian classic rock band Harlequin. The only original member is vocalist George Belanger who keeps his good classic voice and vocal style. Harlequin made some albums in the end 70's and first 80's closer to the AOR but with a lot of classic north american sound, influences from the 70's, country, blues, etc. If you listen to the 13 songs of this cd you will find good production, playing and quality. I find they try to add a modern pop/rock touch in their composition, but always with that 70's and classic sound. Unfortunately some of the songs aren't going in the right, their melodies a bit too modern (closer to pop) or hard to listen to. Nevertheless, you will discover that most of them are quite good. For me the best songs are the ones closer to the 80's feeling, with better melodies. A classic rock band is back, trying to enjoy old fans, and wanting to get new ones. 7,6/10.

Soul Doctor - Blood Runs Cold

Cuarto álbum del proyecto rockero de Tommy Heart y Chrys Line retomado cerca del año 2000 cuando Tommy rompió con Fair Warning. En este cuarto lp podéis ver el camino que Soul Doctor siguió en su álbum previo. Canciones más hard-blues y menos melódicas que en sus dos primeros álbumes. Así la banda suena más dura. con un estilo a lo Whitesnake o Ken Tamplin. El sonido y la producción es impresionante, creo que mejor que en el último álbum de Fair Warning y podéis subir el volumen de vuestros altavoces sin nada de distorsión. Claro está con la buenisima voz de Tommy y las guitarras afiladas de Chris. Una canción ha sido compuesta por Joe Lynn Turner, Glenn Hughes y Stuart Smith. La única cosa mala del álbum es que las últimas canciones son buenas pero no al mismo nivel que las primeras 6 o 7. Estoy seguro que la maxi-canción de 10 minutos tributo a led zeppelin que viene de bonus de la primera edicíón añadirá interés a la totalidad del álbum. De todas maneras es un álbum recomendado. No deberías haber cruzado el rio forastero, Soul Doctor cabalga de nuevo. 8,2/10.

Fourth album from the rock project Tommy Heart and Chris Lyne took over near the year 2000 when Tommy broke with Fair Warning. In this fourth lp you can see the path Soul Doctor followed in the previous album. More hard-blues songs and less melodic rock ones than in their previous two albums. Then the band sounds harder with a Whitesnake, Ken Tamplin style. Sound production is impressive, I think better than the last Fair Warning album and you can raise the volume of your speakers without any distortion. Of course all with the great vocals of Tommy and sharpended guitars from Chris. One song has been composed by Joe Lynn Turner, Glenn Hughes and Stuart Smith. The only bad thing of the album is that the last songs are good but not at the same level of the first 6-7. It's sure that the bonus led zeppelin 10 minutes maxi-track cover in the first edition can add interest to the whole album. Anyway this is a recommended one. Stranger, you should not have crossed the river, Soul Doctor rides again. 8,2/10.

Human Zoo - Over The Horizon

AOR Heaven 2007.

Recibimos un álbum creado por varios ex-miembros de la banda de hard rock melódico suizo Subway junto con nuevos compañeros alemanes. Practican un fantástico rock que me recuerda un montón a Subway, la que fue una de las mejores bandas suizas de hard. Subway tenía una composición muy original a la que añadían composiciones con saxofón increibles y de mucha calidad. En este proyecto encontraréis melodías realmente buenas, la banda sobresaliente tocando, cantante de nivel alto, buena producción y sonido y un pedazo de ese sonido original de saxofón que nos hizo fans de Subway (aunque no en todas las canciones). Recomendamos este álbum hecho con estilo clásico. Al mismo nivel que su primer álbum, creo que este tendrá mejor distribución. Banda de calidad, seguiremos sus pasos en el futuro. Lo mejor que podíamos tomar de las cenizas de los rockeros suizos Subway. 8,4/10.

Here we receive an album created by ex-members of the swiss melodic hard rock band Subway and some new german friends. They play good melodic rock and it reminds me Subway a lot, which was one of the best swiss hard rock bands. Subway had an original composition adding incredibly quality saxophone playing to their hard rock songs. In this project you will find killer melodies with great perfomances, vocals, great song quality and a little bit of that original saxophone touch who made us love Subway (but not in all songs). We recommend this album made with classic sound. At the same level of their first album, I supose this one will have better distribution. A quality band, we will follow their steps in the future. The best we could get from the ashes of melodic swiss rockers Subway. 8,4/10.
